Insuring your life is one of the most important protections you will ever put in place for your family. There are several things to be sure to consider:

1. Having coverage through your employer is not always enough. Most companies only allow up to three times your annual salary, which will most likely not be enough to ensure your family’s continued standard of living.
2. If you purchased life insurance in the past, it’s important to note that mortality rates have changed. It’s possible you are paying too much. Make sure to review your policy every 1-2 years to verify you are getting the best price and still have the right amount of coverage.
3. If you think you are too young for life insurance, it’s the perfect time to buy. Rates will be at the lowest of your life, and since life is unpredictable, at any point you could become uninsurable. Many medical conditions aren’t age specific – how many people do you know under the age of forty who have been diagnosed with cancer? These things happen every day and it’s important to know your current and future loved ones are protected.
